Huh, I don't know what to call that either. I do think it counts as a sensory perception, though. Qualitatively, hearing something (this is the word I've decided to go with) perliminally and sensory hearing are very different experiences. Perliminal auditory experience can rise to the level of sensory auditory experience, and as such it ceases to be perliminal. I suppose when I speak of these kinds of experiences, I categorize them not by the objective source of the experience, but by the quality of the experience.
Something that leaves a distinct but mysterious impression on the course of sensory experience... Yeah, I've got nothing, except that given the correct definition of "subliminal" (I officially renounce all appropriation of that word!) it's not that because it occurs above the threshold of conscious experience. It seems like something that warrants a word, because I get those kinds of impressions on the perliminal level quite often, and even on the sensory level. I'll see--really
things like point sources of light in the corners of my vision at times. And then they'll vanish without allowing me to study them.
